Aims and Objects
What we want to achieve:
- * To provide Residential Accommodation for 24 people with en-suite bedsitting rooms with 2 communal dining rooms, 2 communal lounges, kitchen and a quiet room. This will enable privacy and the encouragement of independence but will also allow for communal areas for the building of friendships.
- * To provide Practical Training and Work Experience on site. The Project is to provide a Tea Rooms, Bakery and fully equipped Kitchen, to enable training in Self Help Skills, Catering and Customer Relations. This area will allow for interaction with the Public.
* Education Centre, Conservation Area and Nature Trail. To provide choices in additional training and work experience and to provide an additional attraction for the public.
- * Activities will also be encouraged off site, which will provide vacancies for those people not resident within the site to access the training and practical work experience within the project.
A suitable site, which is ripe for sensitive development, has recently been located within the conurbation of Eastbourne and early negotiations have commenced with all interested parties. A land Valuation has been undertaken along with a full Badger Survey.
A portion of the site is thought to have areas of interesting flora and fauna and species of wild life and therefore this area will give further training in cultivation and maintenance and further interaction with the public.
Preliminary discussions with Eastbourne Borough Council’s Planning Department has indicated that they are ‘in general terms’ supportive of The JPK Project being developed within the site at Ocklynge Chalk Pit.
Preliminary consultation has already been undertaken with local residents and Councillors and in the majority we have support for The JPK Project to be established on this site. Further consultations will be undertaken once the full plans have been drawn up.
