Peter gives up alcohol to raise charity cash

Polegate resident Peter Lindop raised a total of £1,8000 for charity by not drinking alcohol for 80 days. The supporter of The JPK Project and committee member of the project’s annual charity golf day, got loads of sponsorship in order to raise the cash.

The JPK Project has been set up to provide a residential centre for people with learning disabilities in East Sussex. The £1,800 cheque was presented to Jill Parker, Project Co-ordinator, at Willingdon Golf Club. She said, “I am so grateful for this wonderful donation to help us realise this much needed project in the community, which will enable people with a learning disability to live independently when their parents or carers become too old to care or die and to help these people, who through no fault of their own, cannot help themselves. It gives me great strength to know that we have the support of the local community and my grateful thanks to all those who supported Peter, who apart from his friends and colleagues include Willingdon Golf Club, Polegate British Legion, The Windsor Club, The Victoria Arms, EDF Energy and Brockwells Forestry. The financial donation will certainly make a difference in helping us to secure our land and pay for the necessary planning permissions required”.
