West End songs concert raises cash for JPK Project

A West End Musical Spectacular has helped raise funds for a local charity. The performance by Concentus Chorale at St Saviour’s and St Peter’s Church included songs from the well-known musicals such as Mamma Mia, Phantom of the Opera and My Fair Lady. Choruses from operas including the Easter Hymn and Pilgrim’s Choice were also part of the performance.

More than 500 people attended the event, including Eastbourne MP Nigel Waterson and his wife. The performance helped to raise a total of £538.60 for The JPK Project, which has been formed to provide a residential centre in Eastbourne for people with a learning disability.

Jill Parker, Project Co-ordinator for The JPK Project attended the concert and said “It was a splendid evening and we were all well entertained. We are extremely grateful for the support of Concentus Chorale and for the generosity of the audience who gave so readily. We need all the help we can get in these early stages to secure a site for our project and we are encouraged by the tremendous support we are receiving from the local community”.

The choir’s Christmas Concert also helped raise funds for the project and a cheque for £1,000.80 was presented to Jill Parker at the Choirs annual barbeque at Bates Green Farm, Arlington by Adrian White, Musical Director and the Choir Committee.
